August 3 Caernarfon, Wales

We drove all around the coast of the Isle of Anglesey this morning and stopped at some really lovely little villages.  It did rain a bit but not bad at all.

A lovely house in Moelfre with a waterfall and creek running alongside

Amlwch Harbor

Cemaes Harbor at low tide

By mid afternoon we stopped in Caernarfon at a hotel called the Black Boy Inn which is thought to date back to 1522, making it one of the oldest surviving inns in North Wales. It is within the medieval walls of Caernarfon, a few hundred yards from Caernarfon Castle.  An interesting bit is:

“In Caernarfon's heyday as a port-town, Northgate Street – on which the Black Boy Inn is situated – was the heart of the red-light district. Northgate Street's Welsh name Stryd Pedwar a Chwech translates to "Four [shillings] and Six [pence] Street": what the sailors are reputed to have paid for a room, a bottle of gin, and the services of a woman for the night. “

The restaurant in this Inn has a reputation and is always packed – no wonder – dinner was fantastic!

Not 100% sure what this means --?

There are more wonders to be seen here so we have decided to stay another day.

Sending love R/P
