August 5 Criccieth, Wales

We took a steam train tour of part of the Snowdonia National Park from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog and then back again to Porthmadog.

We started in a harbor then climbed into the mountains, went through a couple of tunnels and then passed through a valley before arriving in the slate-quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Photos aren't great because most were taken through a window and we were going at a pretty good clip.  Plus it was a very grey day so things look washed out in the photos but weren't really in fact.

Found a great hotel in this small town where we can sit and look at a castle and the ocean from our room.  Wonderfully relaxing and exhilarating at the same time!
Looking out our window in the Marine Hotel

Sending love R/P
