June 12 - Brooklyn NY

OMG.  They say that New York has its own energy and that is certainly true.  It defies description.

We walked, and then we walked and then we walked some more.  No, Craig, we didn't turn on the Map My Walk app but we probably should have - we beat any and all records we've ever had

We saw at least some of the must-see spots of New York.  Wandered through Times Square; along Broadway and the theater district, then Park Avenue and 5th and 7th Avenues.  Got to Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Empire State Building and Radio City Music Hall; saw NBC and CBS studios. When we got to Herald Square Norm was holding me back from bursting into "Give my regards to Broadway".  He seemed to think it might be embarrassing but I totally disagree.

Times Square

We saw two unusual things.  Parking lots with hydraulic lifts to park cars in a stack; buildings with wooden water tower tanks on the roof.

My brother Rob recommended that we have a meal in Ellen's Stardust Diner where the staff are all Broadway wanna-be's and perform while you eat.  It was a great experience.

We are spending the night in Brooklyn so that we're close to the cruise terminal.  This is a brand new hotel - Fairfield Inn - and it's lovely.

Finally got to upload photos to the album but because we are using three different devices they are downloading each in date order so the order is a bit wonky.  I can fix it and I may do that when there's time but it's not terribly important to me.

Everything hurts.  Well, the eyebrows don't hurt.

Sending love R/P

  1. Quite an adventure so far. Good thing you had a great contact in Portland for the Amtrak fiasco. Keep smiling.
