We were up this morning at 4:30 to see land on both sides of the ship
as it made its way carefully up the English Channel to Southampton.
After disembarking and picking up our rental car (a really cute Renault
Clio) we started going westward. It’s a
bit freaky driving on the wrong side but Norm takes it all in stride. The car is also a standard transmission so
there’s something else to think about!
We made it as far as Weymouth (a whole 1-1/4 hour drive). This is the quintessential seaside town. Quite picturesque with loads of people
walking about the pedestrian mall and along the beach. Very warm day today so lots of folks on the
beach and in the ocean.
We walked around for a few hours but had to stop for a nap before going out again to explore.
