June 17 North Atlantic

Yippee!  The nurse called at 5 pm last night and said I could leave the stateroom earlier than scheduled.

We had a wonderful dinner in the Britannia Restaurant with our “table mates” from Quebec City.  We actually had dinner with them the first night on board.  Jean’s grandfather was a fisherman in New Brunswick who sailed to Sable Island periodically to get horses to sell on the mainland.  Of course, now the horses on Sable Island are protected and no-one can go and capture them.

After dinner we dropped into the Queens Room to see the Sequence Dancing.  It is so fun to see that.  I remember watching the sequence dancing at the Metro Centre in Newcastle last time we were in England.

Then off to the Royal Court Theatre to see Paul Dabek, a magician and comic.  He was an absolute riot and had the whole theater in stitches.

Last but not least, we stopped into the Chart Room to listen to some Dixieland Jazz.  The audience was having a ball dancing to the music and then forming a conga line going all around the bar.  It was a hoot to watch.

Once back at the stateroom there was a letter telling us that a special crew with protective clothing needed to come into our room for 1-1/2 hours to do an additional cleaning.  We will schedule that today – whew – the precautions are amazing!

Interestingly we are receiving emails and texts but can’t respond.  Our responses just sit there – doesn’t make sense.

Today we primarily explored the sports areas – golf, tennis, basketball, table tennis, shuffleboard, and some other games that we’re not familiar with.  No question about having nothing to do on this ship!  There are also areas where they have games like, scrabble, checkers, Clue, dominoes, etc. and even jigsaw puzzles.

Of course, we still went to the trivia contest, had our walk, went to the Silly Bowling Tournament and played some table tennis (Dot & Brian, not YOUR game, the tame version.)  As usual these days, we went to the Royal Court Theatre for two different shows, one was the play "Arabian Nights" and then an evening with Helen Wilding.

It’s amazing the number of events and other things to do.  The events are generally different every day!!

An unbelievably fabulous martini

Sending love R/P
