We drove all of an hour and then stopped in Torquay. The day was spent walking around the town,
walking around the harbor. Lovely
spot. We plan to stay here another
night. It was very warm again today so
we were pretty much wiped out by about 5 pm.
There are a couple of ferries that go up and down to other towns in
Devon and they sure seem to be popular.

Stopped in to watch a lawn bowling tournament. They take this very seriously as you can see
below.
When we checked into the hotel we were asked if we were okay with a few
stairs and of course, we said sure. Four flights later we were huffing and puffing.
Needless to say, we did not bring our luggage in. We went through and picked out what we
absolutely must have since we knew there would be one trip only. Brought only the booze, computer and sausage
rolls!!! Interestingly, the bathroom is
huge and has a large sunken tub instead of a shower. We did break down and go out for another walk in the evening.
So far this trip we have noticed there are a lot of tattoos and
piercings; age does not seem to make a big difference.

Well, we changed our mind about staying for another day. The bed was
very uncomfortable, it was hot and very noisy (some traffic noise but mainly
seagulls screaming all night.) The staff
were shocked when we said we wouldn’t stay another day – guess that doesn’t
happen very often.
We set off wandering south and all of a sudden found ourselves where we
had to take a ferry or turn around. Why
not? So we took the ferry to a small
town called Dartmouth and decided we would stay here for the day and night. Found a charming bed and breakfast and will
go out for dinner later to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary! First a nap is required.
