Pretty much across the street from us this morning was the British
Library. What a phenomenal place! To see the original documents through history
was so incredible; the Magna Carta, original hand-written scores by composers
like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, original sacred scripts, and hand-written
notes by the Beatles – what a variety of incredible work!!
When we left the Library we decided to walk west and see what we could
see. We ended up in Regent’s Park so, of
course, we had to walk through the park.
It’s a very big park so it took quite a while but it was so pleasant, in
part because we were not in the tourist area so it wasn’t very crowded and we
could really enjoy the whole experience.
Then it was time to grab a bite to eat and head to St.Pancras Station
for the Eurostar to Paris. We were quite
amazed at how smooth the train ride was (consider it goes 180 mph); major
difference from the trains at home. I
did well through the chunnel, surprisingly.
I knew that we were going to be in the chunnel for 20 minutes during the
2-1/2 trip from London to Paris so I kept track of the time and focused on my
breathing for that 20 minutes and I did fine.
When we arrived in Paris, we saw a charging station where you can
charge your electronic device by pedal power – fabulous!!

Our cab driver didn't know our hotel so had his GPS on. I recognized the instructions for turn left and right. How's that for remembering high school French? Actually I can figure out written things fairly well, spoken words, not so much.
Coincidentally we arrived here on Bastille Day so while we took a short
walk around everyone was heading to the River Seine where the fireworks were
scheduled to go off at 11 am. What a
hoot!
Sending love R/P
