July 24 Chester-le-Street, Durham

Off we drove to the coast this morning going to escape the heat, and we did escape it.

Got to Whitby and had a little walk around.  Would have loved to spend more time there. My brother Rob recommended Robin Hood's Bay so we went there fully expecting to spend a couple of hours but there wasn't a spot to park for love or money so all we could do is drive around and finally move on.  Bummer!
Whitby

This morning we knew we had to do laundry today and that trying to do that in York was probably not a   good plan.  The Internet said there was a Laundromat in Whitby so we figured we’d do it there.  When we got there they did have a Laundromat with two washers and two dryers that were all being used.  So we decided we would try Robin Hood Bay and that obviously didn’t work.  So then the plan was to stop in Chester-le-Street and we put my GPS phone on but after missing several instructions, we decided to cancel the first Laundromat and go for the second one.  We decided that if this one didn’t work, it was obviously not meant to be and we would just give it up for today.

When we walked into the Old Cinema Launderette we didn’t know what to think.  There were definitely washers and dryers, there were also sofas and coffee tables, and there was a bar with alcohol!!  What a hoot!  www.oldcinemalaunderette.com

This made up for the frustrating day.

We finally got to Great Lumley to Norm’s cousin Grace's house and we’ve had a lovely evening.
