We knew this was a nice B&B but were totally blown away with our
gourmet breakfast. No ordinary chef
here. They are very proud that they use all
local products and their eggs come from a farm just a few minutes away and in
fact, when we arrived the eggs were just being delivered.
We took the car to Hertz and after some paperwork, got a new car. It’s going to take some getting used to and
figuring out. First, it’s an automatic
so Norm’s not sure what to do with his left foot anymore. The Satnav is totally different from the
other car so that’ll take some investigation.
A really interesting feature is a backup camera which automatically turns
on when you put the car in reverse.
That was the entire morning.
Since we so enjoyed our city tour in London we decided to do the same
here. Much smaller city, of course, so
it didn’t take all day which meant we could go to specific places we wanted to
explore further when the tour was done.
It was quite warm again today so Norm moved to his own seat behind me so
we wouldn’t be touching .
We wanted to walk at least some of the city walls as York has more
miles of intact wall than any other city in England and we wanted to
take a closer look at Mickelgate Bar. It was, and is still, used by royalty to
enter the city of York. Historically it is where heads of traitors were
displayed on spikes.

We also wanted to walk along the river.
River Ouse, York
What a surprise to see the name of one of favorite actresses!
As we went around the city we noticed all these yellow bikes attached
to buildings and fences. This was done
apparently to celebrate the visit of the Tour De France to York on July 6.
Sending love R/P
