Yeah! We lucked out today!! It was overcast all day which meant we didn’t
see the sun and ergo, it wasn’t hot. It
was a delightful day.
When we looked at the map we saw that going to Cambridge meant going
south and then we would have had to turn around and go north so that plan was
discarded.
We had a walk to the river in Hemingford Grey and what a picturesque
spot that turned out to be! The village
is so peaceful and quiet. Not difficult
to understand why this B&B is almost constantly booked. Besides being in a quiet, peaceful place, it
is close to many sights.
We went in to check out the next little town, St. Ives and found again,
another wonderful picturesque spot so we spent some time walking around there.
Since we went to see Norm’s cousin Pearl in Ely, Norm’s been talking
about taking me to see Ely Cathedral so that was our next stop. This cathedral was begun in the 11th
century and is an active, living church today.

We arrived in Wolferton at Norm’s cousin Joan’s place and had a walk around
the village. Wolferton used to be a
railroad stop and became famous for the Royals who used the station because of
its proximity to Sandringham House.
The Royal Family still come here from time to time to see the Queen’s pigeon’s
(someone actually does look after a flock of pigeon’s that belong to Queen
Elizabeth), Prince Charles has a home here and the home is offered at times to
foreign royalty.
The station is now a private home and the station has been
preserved. Just amazing!

As it got too late last night, I am writing this on Monday
morning. We had an interesting
experience last night. I woke up around
midnight and opened my Kindle to read for a while. In my peripheral vision I saw something fly
by so I turned on the light and woke Norm up.
It was a bat! We had no idea what
to do so we decided to open the window in the hopes it would fly out and we
moved out to sleep downstairs. When we
got to the living room we got an attack of the giggles. The Fates are ensuring that we have a most
memorable holiday!!
Sending love R/P
