An active day today in spite of the downpours of rain.
We drove down the Lizard Penninsula to Lizard Point. This is the southernmost point in England. There the coast is rugged and reminds us very much of the Oregon coast.
We did a tour of the Lizard Lighthouse which was quite unnerving. A bit catastrophic going up the stairs and then we were told that the winds are frequently 80 mph. When the winds hit 100 mph the lighthouse and the buildings in the complex all sway! Yikes!
Since we were so close by, we had to stop at Kynance Cove which is touted as being one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. What we saw looked pretty nice but with the downpour we didn't actually get too close so can't really say.
Off we drove to St. Michael's Mount which you can walk to when the tide goes out but otherwise you need to take a boat. The time when we could have walked would have been about 6:30 pm which was way too late for us. Killer walk up to the castle but some pretty good views even in the rain.
Finally a terrific farewell dinner for the eight of us at the Punchbowl & Ladle in Feock.
Hopefully my computer will be fixed tomorrow and life can go back to normal, the electronic life I mean.
